• Content: It focuses on the history of the Canadian Indian residential school system, detailing allegations of high mortality rates, abuse, and undocumented burials.

• Cover Details: The cover features an excerpt highlighting historical statistics from specific school records: "(All died in school or soon after leaving)... Thus, the mortality of the total admitting school 1894–1900... was 50%."

Context and Credibility Note

While the book brought early public attention to the devastating conditions and high mortality rates within residential schools, Kevin Annett and his "Truth Commission" are independent entities. His methods, unsanctioned excavations, and specific conspiratorial claims have been heavily criticized and discredited by mainstream historians, legal experts, and official Indigenous leadership organizations, including the Assembly of First Nations.
