Cowichan Knits include Sweaters, Vest, Toques Made from 100% Sheep Wool; with some of the knitters carding the raw wool, then the wool hand spun and knitted in a unique way that makes them authentic. The Designs are also unique in that the designs used in each Cowichan Sweater belongs to the knitter who creates her own designs but also inherit designs passed on from mothers and grandmothers.
Virginia Jacobs
Virginia is a member of the Squamish Nation, and as taught by her Cowichan Mother In Law, she learned how to knit when she was in here twenties; Virginia has been knitting cowichan sweaters and toques for over 50 yrs. Now in her 70s, she still spins and washes and prepares her own wool, along with the help of her son she continues to knit beautiful sweaters.
