About Kitselas Canyon

• Location: The Kitselas Canyon National Historic Site is located roughly a 10-minute drive east of Terrace, British Columbia, along the Skeena River.

• Historical Significance: It represents the only First Nations village on the Skeena River where ancient structural remains, clan longhouses, petroglyphs, and monumental totem poles are preserved. The area has a rich archaeological history spanning over 5,000 years as a vital hub for salmon fishing and trade.

• The Totem Poles: The four figures featured on the cover illustrate traditional Northwest Coast Indigenous carvings (specifically Ts'msyen/Tsimshian style), representing diverse crests, lineage histories, and protectors belonging to the local clans
